HAMMOND MAY SET NEW RECORD
Received Thursdav, S.10 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 17. A member of the reecutly formed : Society of (Ticket Statisticians, in a letter to the Times, points out that Hammond's double c.enturv at Perth was his 30th in first class cricket, thus giving him a lead of one over Bradman who is credited with 35 double centur.ies. The letter adds that Hammond reqiiifes 272 more rnns in first class cricket to complete his 50,000. So far he has p'layed 081 innings so he is almost certain to beconte the first cricket er to reach this figuro in fewer than 1000 innings. Grace, Hobbs, Woollev, Hendren, IMead and Sutcliffe all passecl the 50,000 mark but all batted on more than lOOO W-a«inns. .
