MARKET REPORT
■ Messrs. Townsend and Paul, Ltd., fruit and produce merchants, Wellington, report that during the past week the first bronze plums for the season came to hand and were of surprisingly good quality, selling readily. Tree tomatoes, hot-house tomatoes, passionfruit, and all citrus have also been sought. Fiower auctions have been well attended, Otago tulips and bulbs being in demand. Most varieties of vegetables have been v/anted, but as is seasonal larger supplies have been offering and values in the main have been easier. Peas, cauliflowers, pumpikins, spinach and hot-house fCucumbers have all been in demand. Smaller yardings of poultry have again been available, prime birds of all breeds being sought. Quotations are: — Plums, 17/-, 25/-; tree tomatoes, 30/6, 37/6; passionfruit, 30/-, 43/- -i-case; tomatoes, 1/9, 3/8 lb; all citrus ceiling; tulips, 1/3, 6/- doz. ; daffodils, 8/-, 12/6; poppies, 6d, 4/6 gross; waratah, 15/-, 20/- doz.; asparagus, 1/-, 2/-; broad beans, 2d, 6d; peas,: 8d,.l/3id lb; beetroot, 25/-, 28/-; celery, 15/-, 25/-; leeks, 4/-, 10/-; lettuce, according to quality, 4/-, 33/-; spinach, 50-, 30/-; rhubarb, 8/-, 20/- case; carrots, 6/-, 16/-; cauliflowers, 18/-, 30/-; swedes, 4/-, 8/- sack; kumeras, pumpkins, potatoes, onions, ceiling price. .. .
