SQUATTERS DISCOVERED IN AUCKLAND

AUCKLAND, Oct. 16. Auckland had itsj ' ' squatters ' ' long before London's aeconimodation jumpers made front> page news. Washing on a line has led to their discovery. They are' Mr. and Mrs. William Blake, who with their three-year-old son have been occupying for the past five months two small ofifices in corner of one of the two large sto'rage sheds built during the wfir . on the waterfront for the American forces. They stated that they had applied unsuceessfully for seven years for a State house and had moved into the building wlien the Wheat Committee had finished using it as a store. "I had nowhere to go and did not waut to bring mv boy up iu tlip streets, " said Mr. Blake, who added that he was uot very happy about their improvised home. The family 's preseace in the ^building was diselosed at a meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board ivhen a member said that he had noticed washing drying on a line in the building.
