Euchre and 500 Winners Prize winners in the euchre tournament conducted by the local branch of the Labour Party ih Laurvig's Hall on Friday evening were Mi\ Liddle' and Mrs. V. McEwen. The women's section of the R.S.A. held their usual flag 500 evening on Monday and prizewinners were Mesdames M. Thomson, F. Thomson, A. Richards and Mr. R. Sands. Memorial Plaque A letter from the secretary of the Shannon branch of the Returned Services Association, requesting permission to fix a white marble plaque bearing the names of the ten men who made the supreme sacrifice in World War II to the present war memorial, was received by the Shannon Borough Council at its fortnightly meeting on Tuesday evening. The cost of the plaque and fixing it to the memorial is to be borne by the R.S.A. On the motion of the Mayor, permission was granted. September Weather Temperatures recorded in the shade at Shannon during September were as follows, those in parentheses being for September last year: — Highest day temperature, 63 degrees recorded on the 14th (66 degrees) ; highest riight temperature, 54 degrees recorded on the 14th and 15th (55 degrees), lowest day temperature, 54 degrees 011 the 1st (50 degrees) ; lowest night temperature, 41 degrees on the 5th (34 degrees). Rain fell on 25 days during the month at No. 1 dam at Mangahao and measured 23.12 inches, while at Mangaore it fell on 20 days and measured 7.68 inches.
