SHIPS IDLE AT SYDNEY

Eeceived Tuesday, 9.30 p.m. SYDNEY, Oct. 15. Twenty overseas sliips and 2(300 watersiders are idle today aud the pori is threatened with coniplete stoppage tomorfow because men who failed to answer the call on Saturday were suspended. Union offic^ils have informed members of the Stevedoring Industry Com-. mission that unless the suspension is lifted by tomorrow, the men would leave the overseas sliips which secured gangs last week. This would immobilise a further 35 ships. The cause cf the trouble is that the Commission has ordered that the men shall attend calls on Saturday mornings. For some months the men have boyeotted Saturday morning calls and this week the Commission made its first niove to enforce the ruling.
