AUCKLAND, Oct. 15. Ex-servicemen teaeliers are settliug down very "vvell indeed in ihe opinion of Mr. W. J. Iteferring to tlie liousing shortage Mr. Cartwriglit said tlie problem was "ffecting tlie promotion of teachers, • -^■nny of wliom vvere loatli to rnove on promotion to places wliere aeeommodation was diflicult to obtain. Indeed, teachers had aslced to be relieved of posts because of tliis problem. Teachers going to eountry posts were at a great
disadvantage in this respect, and if tlie eountry conimunities wanted teachers it was tlie . conimunities ' responsibility to lind accommodation.
