Boxing and Pliysical Ciilture Ciub, Levin^Waiopehu TfampiHg Club, Athletic Football Club, Levin Bowling.. Club, Horowhenua . Softball Association, Tuis Sports Club} Ajax Basebaff Club and Levifi Miniature Rifle Club, together witfi a representative of badiiiintori interests.
Mr. W. Ctibb, who occupied the chair, referred tcr the two. previoug meetings which had been held,- anet said that the mdin piirposes of the ' council were now known to sports bodies. If the meeting proeeeded to form the council, he felt that other clubs not represehted at the meeting would eventually join the movement. He then asked for aii expression of opinion on the project.. All those present indicated that the bodies they represented were prepared to support the council. Mr. A. Truman, of the Horof whenua Softball Association, said: that at baseball practice that even-' ing there had been an attendance of 35 players and many more were expected. The sport today in Leviii was virtually without a ground for" its activities. The Horowhenua. Rugby Union had offered it the user of Rugby Park, but that was . unsuitable for the sport. Mr. w. C. Childs said the Leviii Bowling Club and Levin Boxing and Physical Club were wholeheartedly behind the launching of the movement. They were each prepared to pay £1 ls to launch the project, but reserved the right, after perusing the rules and functions of the proposed council, to say whether they would become permanent members or not. It was then unanimously decided .on the motion of Mr. F. D. Chainey, seconded by Mrs. Dorne, that a council of sport be formed in Leviii and that it be known as the Levin Council of Sport. Messrs. Cribb and Chainey were appointed interim chairman and secretary respectively. It was decided to call a further nieeting on Tuesday, November 5, in St. Mary's Hall, to appoint permanent officers and decide ori the form of the council's activities, the hope being expressed that all interested clubs be represented at that meeting. It was agreed that all sports clubs in the town be eircularised before the meeting, asking defmitely whether or not they would support the council, this being left to the chairman and secretary to arrange.
