MEETING OF ASSOCIATION

It is intended to start a junior cricket competition in the Horowhenua district this year and three teams have already been nominated. This statement was made at a meeting of the management committee of the Horowhenua Cricket Association on Moffday night. Past players and younger menibers who are not up to ' the Standard of senior cricket may pMy and the' committee will finalise the competition on Monday night. All •those who wish to play are asked to forward their names to Messrs. V Tippler (Shannon) , V. Cahill (Otaki) and C. E. Wiseley- (Levin). Seven senior teams have been nominated for competition in the Hall Shield series and these are Horowhenua College Old Boys, College, Levin, Weraroa, Shannon, Otaki "and Paraparaumu. Gaipes a.t present, however, will not be played on the Paraparaumu Domain, but will take place pn the Paraparaumu north field. Shannon and Otaki are also experiencing difficulty in

preparing their wickets after the iqotball season. It was decided to enter a challenge for the Goldfmch and Cousins' Cup, which is at present held by Manawatu B. College was granted permission to play Dannevirke High School at Dannevirke, on October 29 and 30. There -will be three wickets in Levin this season, two on the Levin Park Domain ahd one at Weraroa The Weraroa and College wickets i will also be used for praetice.
