OTAKI'S OCTOBER MEETING The monthly -meeting of the Otaki Wbmen's Institute was held in the Anglican Hall on Thursday afternoon. There was a good attendance of members and visitors present. The meeting opened with the institute song. The president, Mrs. Lumley, welcomed all members and visitors, i After the usual routine business was disposed of a letter of thanks was read from Dr. Barnado's Home, thanking the institute for the parcel of woollen garments which were greatly appreciated. Two food parcels were sent to Britain last month and the sum of £2 2s 9d was collected at the October meeting. Mrs. Allan was elected delegate to the half-y early council meeting, to be held at Paekakariki on October 23. Miss Mills gave an elocutionary item which was enjoyed by all. Mrs. Clark read letters giving an interesting account of U.N.R.A.'s activity. The resignation of Mesdames Harrington, Berry and Adamson, who are leaving the district, were received with regret. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames H. Taylor, K. Taylor, W. G. Taylor, A. E. Taylor, Burns-Smith and Miss Smith. The best decorated jam jar was won by Mrs. Drew, the best shrub by Mrs. Berry and the best flower by Mrs. Drew. A very pleasant afternoon was brought to a close with the singing of the National Anthem. '
