WELLINGTON, Oct. 14. - Restrictions Mtberto imposed on the despatch of gift parcels to Great Britain, have been lifted with the exception that parcels must continue to he bona fide unsolicited gifts and he marked as such. Commencing forthwith gift parcels for Great • Britain may he sent up to a maximum gross weight of 221bs., the international parcel post weight limit. There is now no 71bs. limitation on tb* *> weight of food which may he C, cluded in any one parcel, no 21hs. restriction on the quantity of any particular foodstuff, and no p/oviso that parcels for oue addressee shall he limited to one monthly. In making the announcement today- the Postmaster-General, Mr. Wehh, expressed particnlar pleasure in heing -ahle to give this welcome news. Many New Zealand people had long heen anxious to make a greater contribution of food and comforts to their friends and relatives in Britain. He said the rates for gift parcels to the United Kingdom ,are:— Up to 31hs. -2s, up to 71hs. 3a 4d, up to lllbs. 4s 6d, up to 221hs. 7s. The Minister added that the restrictions on the sending of gift parcels to various countries in Europe to which the parcel post service was available, had heen lifted similarly, except that the gross weight of gift food parcels for the Cpntinent must not exeed lllbs.
