HEAVY LOSS OF LIFE
Received Sunday, 7 p.m. NEW YORK, Oct. 12. All fi ve aboard an Army Miteheli ])bme which crashed • in a heavy fog near Alexandria, Virginia, were killed. A Douglas DC4 crashed near Groveton, Virginia, in a thick fog but 27 aboard e'scaped serious injury. The aircraft was bound from Miami to New York and apparently hit a timber pile. It struck a 2300-volt high tension power Hue and burst into llanies. A wind blew the thames nway l'rom tlie eseape hateh th rough wliicli most of the passengers crawled. Oue passenger said lie lost 25,000 dollars in easli. The stewardess eoolly aud methodically checked off the passenger list as tlie travellers escaped l'rom tlie plane. .
