higher ranks of the serb clergy Received Monday, 11.15 a.m. BELGRADE. Oct. 13. Borba, the ofhcial Communist newspaper, which often foreshadows Government action, has opened a campaign against the syn'od of the Serbian Orthodox Church, and suggests that the higher ranks of the Serb clergy may be subject to a purge. "Synod has associated itself with the foreign warmongers," the paper declared. "Such reactionary and hostile acts cannot silently be passed over. In future our people will carry out a vigorous struggle to prevent the Orthodox Church. becoming a stronghold of reaction." ■
