Stewart Granger, the hero, plays a young politician whp runs away with the heroine to Paris and lives with her without the blessings of the Church. The villain is one of the truest rye played by Jomes Mason— he liyes with many womeny including the Cabinet Minister's wife (Margaretta Scott) , a phrpnic adultreps. Yet, beneath all this sordiness runs like a melody thp love story pf this Fanny (Phyllis Calvert) rather cruel victim of cirpumstanpes.
