Received Eriday, 0.55 p.m. PARIS, Oct. 11. The peaee conference by a two-thinls majority, adopted the Erench proposal for freedom of navigation of the ; Danube. The proposal thus goes to the j Foreign Ministers' t'ouncil with tlu* full Iforce of a coufereuce recommeiidatiou. The conference voted separutelv on the two points contained in ihe Erencli pro]iosal. Firsllv, there was ihe freedom of navigation of the Danube whieh was adopted by 15 votes to (i. Seeondlv there was the point that a conference of tlie Big Eour and all riparian states be convened to agree on the new international regime for the Danube. Tliis was adopted by 14 votes to seven. The main eeonomic points adopted for the Ruuianian dnu't treaty were: — The Soviet to get £75,000,(100 repnra tions. Rumania to pav 75 per eent. compen sation to Allied propertv owners in Rumania for war damage. United Nations to be granted most favoured nation treatment in Rumania for IS months on a reciproeal basis. The British proposal for special pro tection of Pnited Nations' oil com panies in Rumania, was turned down by ten votes to nine. A South Africau amendmenl obliging Rumania to pay these companies faii prices, was'adopted by 13 votes to six.
