WELLINGTON, Oct. 8. Several amendmeiits were iutroduced into the fSoil Conservatioii5 and Rivers Control Ameudineiit Bill duriug its passage through the Legislative Council today. River and drainage authorities whicli it is proposed to dissolve, are given the riglit to nominate one member of a Commission appointed to inquire into the objections, while if the local body it is proposed to dissolve objects, tlieii the dissolution cau be effected only after the Commission lias considered and recommended upon its objection. The right of a Catclunent Board to continue rates levied by tlie dissolved body is limited to six years and tlie Board may not apply such rates to fresli purposes. County Councils are enabled to take over the classification and rating of a County Council while keeping the draindrainage d-istrict constituted by the age district in existence.
