Mr. Allum said the city council would pay no attention to vulgar abuse. It was time Mr. Semple learned to behave liimsolf. Mr. Allum explained that the council had been asked by Mr. Skinner, the secretary of the Auckland Labour Representatidn Oommittee, t.o permit the screening of lilms at Mr. Semple's meeting. Because of tlve regulations Mr. Skinner subsequentlv said there had been a misunderstanding, and only slides would be shown. Tlie exhibition of moving pictures constituted entertainment, and for many years •the council had refused perniission for the public exhibition of films on Sunday.
