VAST ARMY OF LOCUSTS
Received Wednesday, 8.10 p.m, RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 1. A column of locusts 60 miles long and 40 miles wide, is advancing on Rio de Janiero. The horde originated in Argentina in mid September and crossed the Rio Grande to Brazil, levelling all crops. The Government, without avail, is using all possible means of destruction including planes spraying poison and fire. The locust cloud is so dense it darkens the sky and clogs traffic alopg the highways.
