The sports bodies represented were the Levin Gombined Amateur Athletic and Cycling Ciub, Levin Boys' Training Centre, Levin-Waiopehu Tramping Club, Horo whenua Ladies' Bowling> Club and Horowhenua Softball Association. It will be recalled that at the, initial rheeting held towards the end of August there was an excellent attendance of representatives of the town's sports bodies. The aims and objects of the proposed council were explained and delegates were asked to report back to their clubs and then -attend the meeting last eVening prepared to indicate whether ov not their clubs would be prepared to sup.port the council. o Mr. W. Cribb, who occupied the chair last evening, said the 'attend- : ance was very disappointing in ; view of the number present at the first meeting. However, he felt it was entirely the result of the weather, as a number of representatives had told him and the convener (Mr. F. D. C'hainey) that they had intended being present. Mr. Chainey advised that he had been in touch with Mr. K. A. Falconer, secretary of the New Zealand Council of Sport, and he had been impressed by the adVantages • which were to be derived from the formation of a local council. It was decided to re-convene the' meeting for Tuesday, October 15 in the St. Mary's Hall, and to advise all clubs by circular of the new arrangements. The hope was expressed by those present that all sports clubs would be represented at that meeting. .
