Received Monday, 1.4 a.m. SYDNEY, Sept. 29. The further counting of votes In the Federal election today showed no weakening of Labour 's strong position in the House of Representatives and as I tlie Preinier of Queensland, Mr. Hanlon, put it, "the result is a triuuiph for Mr. Chifley who made no election promises tluit the Governmem, cannot carrv out". In some doubtful seats, although the offteial Labour candidate has a good majority, his total does not exeoed the combined anti-Labour total and pre- ! ferences may decide the issue against | him. Mr. Forde 's position has de- . teriorated slightlv 011 today 's count 1 but the party still has hopes lie wilJ | scrape liome.
