Anungemenls h:i\e been made by tlie Direi-Oir oi' Agriculture, Mr. Fawcett, for tlie desputrh to Xew Zealaud of trial equipment for ihe two new Swedish and Swias hiitiermaking processes wliich have attrai'lcd widespread interest in all but tenmikiug rountries. The two plants are to l>e tesfed in New ZeaJand with the object oi' ascertainingj llieir capabilities under New Zealand conditions. Although the Swiss and Swedisli plants were, indejiendenlly developed and employ diil'erent melliods, it is chtimed both would reduce build- ■ ing sjiaee and labour costs and have a , higlmr rate of production than the methods used in New Zealand. , Mr. Faweett who visited Sweden and , Su it/.erland in eonnection with the processes stated on his return to LoPdon today tliat he lioped the trial plants would be sent to New Zealand early in the new year. Both processes had interesting possibilities i'or thc New Zealand butterinaking industry but it was necessary to ascertain whether the butter produced by these new methods i would carrv satisfaetorilv for export. Mr. Fawoett arrived in Britain a inonth ago to attend the F.A.O. confer- I enre in Copenhagen and leaves for New : Zealand by flying boat next week. )
