JOINT WHALING FAVOURED

Received Saturdav 12.30 a.m. SYDNEY, Sept. 27. The Australian Goverument was m favour of a joint whaling venture by Britain, Australia, New Zealand' and Norway said the Minister of Externap Affairs, Dr. Evatt, tonight. It was opposed to the proposed Japanese whaling expeditions to the Antaretic. The Govermneut had no ohjection to Japanese vessels being used but demanded that such expeditions be controlled and operated exclusively by Allied personnel. Dr. Evatt added that the whole question was being diseussed in AVasnmgton and the Australian Goverument .vas hopeful of a satisfactory settiement.
