CHALLENGE TO CHURCHILL

(Special Correspondent.)

1 Received Friday, /.() p.m. j LOXDON, Sept. 27. Mr. Cyril Osborne, Oonservative Member of the Gommons for Lough, has submitted a resolution for consideration at the Conservative Party cont'erence at Blackpool, calling for "a more vigorous leaderslup". This ehallenge from a backbencher who entered Parliament only at last election, was received witli some surprise by Party leaders and is certain to be hotly debated. Mr. Churchill 's status as an elder statesman and his personal prestige as Leader of the Conservatives, are most unlikely to be seriously challenged but there is a feeling among some younger and newer members of the Party, that he sliould keep in closer touch with the rank and file and be more readily accessible to them.
