METHODIST LADIES' GUILD
SEPTEMRER MEETING The monthly meeting of St. John's Methodist Ladies' Guild was neld recently in the Bible Class Rooms, Mrs. A. C. Kennerley presiding. The meeting opened with the sihging of a hymn, a scripture reading and prayer led by Mrs. Kennerley, after which the visitors were heartily welcomed by the president. Correspondence was read from England, thanking the members for the pareels which have been sent. It was decided that on the last Sunday in the month an after church sing be held and a collection be taken to defray the cost' of the pareels to be sent to England. The competitions were won as foUows.: — Bes.t guest towel: Mrs. Burnham 1 best tea towel: Mrs. Kennerley. Miss J. Sorenson, who was the judge, was presented with a posy of sweet peas by Master Brian Clark, of' Auckland. A vote of sympathy was extended to. Mrs. J. C. Gardner in the passing of her father, M.r- W. G.. Adkin, all members standlng in silence. Final arrangements were made in connection with the victory sale.. Afternoon tea was then served by the hostesses Mesdames H. Baumber and Hallwood. The meeting closed with the Benedictjon.
