MANGAORE GOLF
MID-WEEK AND WEEK-END RESULTS Members of tlie Mangaore and Buckley Golf Clubs gathered on the Mangaore links on Wednesday afternoon when a farewell was tendered Mrs. Bason. The competition took the form of a nine hole possibles v. probables. The probables proved the winners by a small margin after a very enjoyable afternoon of golf. Afternoon tea was later partaken of in the clubhouse, when the large gathering present took the opportunity of bidding farewell and wishing good luck to Mr. and Mrs. Bason, who are shortly leaving the district to take up residence at Karapiro. . On Saturday afternoon conditions were good and a large gathering of members were on the links. A hidden hole competition was played and the results were as follows: Mrs. Lester 75, Mrs. Robinson 73, Mrs. Boon 80, Mrs. Baker 81 and Mrs. Beech 86. "Top Dogs" Competition The Mangaore "top dogs" competition was taken a stage further over the weekend and a challenge from Mesdames Boon and Beech proved too much for the holders, Mesdames Baker and Birch; who were defeated after a very interestmg game. Ladies' Championships The semi-final matches were played in the ladies' handicap championships over the weekend. Both matches were hard-fought games, and some very good golf was witnessed. The results were: Mrs. Higgie 76 nett , defeated Mrs. Boon 77 nett, three up and two to play; Mrs. Lester 74 nett defeated Mrs. Elvines 77 nett two up. Handicap Reductions The handicap committee advise the following reductions in handicaps over the weekend play: — Mrs. Robinson reduced from 30 to 29 and Mrs. Lester reduced from 25 to 24.
