WELLINGTON, This Day. Recent form at the Wenganui and Marton fixtures is more than likely to prove a helpful guide at the two-day Hawke's Bay J.C. meeting, opening at Hastings tomorrow. Recent rain has improved the Hastings track and it should be in good order tomorrow. Silver Rod is improving with racing and should now be tuned up to give a good account of himself in the niain flat event, while in the sprint Da Vinci will be a strong f ancy. Heavy rain at Dunedin has left the Wingatui course under water and even if the weather clears the going will be heavy for the opening of the Dunedin fixture. With the prospects of a heavy course several Riccarton horses engaged there tomorrow are unlikely to fulfil their first day's engagements. These two meetings will conclude on October 5 when the Otaki Club will hold its opening day. The Ohinemuri single day fixture will be held ari Paeroa while for followers of the light harncss sport the New Brighton Trotting Club holds its meeting also tomorrow. Win apd place betting operates at all the above -mentioned meetings, prospects for which are as follows: — „
