A thouglitful unil kindly gesturo by comrades of !i New Zealand soldier who died in a prisoner-of-war caaip in Germany during the w;ir has ju.st been madc known through the receipt by liis widow in Dunedin of a clieque from tlie Army Department. Wlien Pte. A. E. Billsborougli died as a prisoner in >St;ilag V1IIB, Gerinany. Iiis follow prisoners, comprisiny L'nited Kingdom, Aiistralian, and New ZeaJaml ser\ uMMiien, subscribed among tliein tlie iimount of 2074 Keichsmarks whicli tliey desired should be remitted to his next-of-kin. Wliile tlie wai- continued, of course, it was not possible for tlie muney to be reinitted, but tlie uimmnt was evidently lield in trust and lianded to tlie Army aulliorities wlien tlie liostilities ceased.
