Aiiglqrs ' expectations of the sport that' will be found in Wellington district streams this season vary considerably. It is hoped that the first batch of yearlings released will be takable this year, and it is tlie general opinion that now the restocking of rivers has been resumed an improveme.nt in the fishing will eventuate. It is now realised that in streams subject to erosion, as are the majority in this district, restoeking is essential, however well tr out -may increase naturally in more sedate waters full of oover. With the resumption of motor transport there will be £ bigger number of rods on all streams, and it will be difficult to find a promising stretch of unidisturbed water. During O.ctober it is usually still rather cold for fiy fishing, and when the weather grows warmer in November there is usually a heavy flood in the Hutt River. It is always difficult to forecast- what will be the best montlr's bags, however, and as the seasons have been a little out of joint, November may prove an amiable month. Cne of the best signs, in anglers' opinion, for an iniprovement in the local angling, is the increasing number of small fish rising in the evenings, which promise better sport when they are of takable size. ;
