PORqUI'AWHAO'S meeting The September meeting of the Poroutawhao Women's Institute was held recently with Mrs. J. Speirs.,, presiding. The president, Mrs. C. Arcus was unfortunately unable to attend owing to ill health and her resignation was accepted with regret. Mrs. Scott was elected president for the remainder of the year. Mrs. Speirs took the opportunity of thanking all who had -assisted with arrangements for the -group rally. Miss R. Tait was congratulated on gaining two second places in the group rally competitions. It was decided to eontinue sending parcels overseas to boys in JForce. A saies stall brought in the pleasing amount of £1 9s 6d, which will be sent to the Leper Fund. The results -of the competitions were: — Marmalade: Mrs. Vickers 1, Mrs. Carle 2, Miss Carle 3. Handkerchief ii'om salt bag: Beryl Carle 1, Shirley Scott 2. Best bloom: Shirley Scott 1, Mrs. Speirs 2, Miss Carle 3. Afternoon tea was a final item to a busy afternoon.
