TRAINING OF SCOUTS
TATUM WILL PLAY A LARGE PART The Boy Scouts' training camp at Tatum Park, JVlanakau, will play a big part in the future training of scouts, it is stated in the annual report of the New Zealand Boy Scouts' Association. A great deal of money has been spent by the association in improving the grounds, and making them suitable for the purpose. Among work, done is the installation of ablution huts presented by the Dominion Akela, Miss Nancy Wilson. Several training courses have been conducted at Tatum, the report continues, and the happy and homely atmosphere there was due to the k£en interest taken by the warden and his wife in the work. "The ultimate aim of the association," says the report, "is to have every scoutmaster, cubmaster, rover leader and assistant trained. This is a big undertaking, but it touches on the reason and purpose in all our work. To help towards this objective the scheme of financial , assistance to candidates attending training courses .at Tatum had been extended aii& will, we trust, become permanent."
