Apoiogies lor absfence were received lTom Miss Cotter (Manaxau), Mrs. Fietcher (.Waitarere), Mrs. Moxham (Lindsay) and the president and members oi Otaxi and poxton lnstitutes. The morning was occupied with a short business session and a community sing most spiritedly conclucted by Mesdames Deil-.u,te ana Sutcliffe. The afternoon was entirely social. The guest artist for the day was Mrs. Delicate, of Plimmerton, who gave most generously of her extensive repertoire and had ner audience simpiy convulsed with iaughter at nei humorous elocutionary items. In addition a most entertaining programme was presented as follows:— Songs, Mesdames Anderson and Sutcliffe; vocal duets, Mesdames Sutcliffe and Tehema; and elocutionary items, Mrs. Perigo. Two mirth provoking sketches, "Honest Folk" and "Before and After Marriage," were presented, Mrs. K. Bowater actihg as producer. Those taking part in the l'ormer were Mesdames Nichol, Johnson, Bowater and Bott and Miss Shirley Johnson, and in the iatter Mesdames Perigo, Nichol and Bott. . . The competitions were for a cotton frock and ginger nut biscuits made to a given recipe. The frocks were first of all judged for sewmg, finishing off, etc., and then worn by the makers, who wore masks, and were judged for the fitting, etc. Mrs. M. Spencer, of Levin, kindly acted as judge and her remarks explaining how she had awarded her marks were very interesting and instructive. Her awards were as follows: Mrs. Fagan (Waitarere) 1, Miss Tait (Poroutawhao) 2, Mrs. L. Smith (Levin) 3. Mrs. Spencer also judged the biscuits, her awards being as follows: Mrs. Evans (Kimoerley) 1, Mrs. Tait (Poroutawhao) i, Mrs. Carle (Poroutawhao) 3. Mrs. Fagan was congratulated and presented with a gift and the shield, and Waitarere W.I. was congratulated on winning the shield' the first time they had entered a group rally competition, their institute only having been formed a few months ago. Mrs. E*vans was also congratulated and presented with a gift. Mrs. Dorset (Manakau) was the winner of a dinner competition. , , Beautiful flowers were presented to-the hostess nresidents, the judge, performers, accompaniste (Mrs. Tait) and convener (Mrs. Powell). Arrangements were also made to have flowers sent to Mrs. Arcus from the meeting. A feature of the rally was a realiy wonderful display of beautiful needlcwork . alid s'oft toys ^y members of* the hostess institutes, and they were highly commended 311 the display. Most generous hospitality throughout the day was extended by members of the hostess institutes and they were accorded a hearty vete of thanks by acclamation for kindly doing so. Votes of thanks to the performers, the chair and to the convener concluded one of the most successful and enjoyable rallies heid by "his group.
