SYDNEY, Sept. 19; i." -.Major' Gh'arlee Gouseus, charged witli hlghvtreasonl admitted today that two letters'-'produeed by the Crown might have beeri written by him. The Crown alleged that- the letters aecompanied preseats frora Major Cousens to tlie Japanese, Miss Foumi Saisho, in Tokio. He admitted. giving Miss Saisho a handbrtg, violets and American eigar ettes. Counsel said he did not want to suggest that there was any impro-pr-iety in - the relationships IMajor Cousens admitted being eautiously fri'endly with several Japanese. Miss Saisho was not difficult to deceive when he wisiied to pass out infonnation. He had a corrstant battle of wits with lier. Letters iwhxch Major Cousens said were in the tvpicaily polite .Japanese style, were read to the Court.
