RAINS BREAK AUSTRALIAN DROUGHT
Received Thursday. 9.55 p.m. SYDNEY, Sept. 19. Drought breaking rains have been falling for the past 3(5 hours over thousands of square. railes of parched Nortlieru New -South Wales. They are expected to tuni bare lands into pastures again and save scores of thousands of slieep. Falls averaging two inches, the best- for 12 months, have already been recorded over an area Stretc-hing from the northern N tablelands far out on to tlie plains. Further rain is expected and meteorologists say that the drought can now be eonsidered broken.
