RED CROSS SOCIETY
LEVIN'S SEPTEMBER MEETING The usual monthly meeting of the Levin Red Cross Society was held in the Women's Division rooms recently, the president (Miss H. E. Bowen) presiding. There was a good attendance of members and a fair number of new members were announced. Before the usual busi-^ ness was dealt with, Miss Bowen referred to the loss Mrs. Hair had suffered in the death of her brother. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect. Miss Bowen also referred to the work of the ladies at the social afternon the previous Saturday, and thanked one and all for their co-operation in the effort to entertain war brides. Mrs. Wilson again asked for knitters for the sewing circle, and the Red Cross wish to make it known that any jtinned goods for overseas will be welcomed for inclusion in the parcels the society is despatching regularly to Britain. The meeting was brought to a close with the serving of afternoon tea by the hostesses, Mesdames Blake and Griffiths.
