MARTON, Sept. L'7'. Two youths Avho escaped from the Weraroa Training Farm on Monday evening in a Government truck were recaptured after the- trnck became stranded in a watertable* in the Turakina Yallev. One of the youths set off for a nearbv farm to seelc assistance. A passing motorist was appealed to for aid by the other eseapee,' and the driver obliged by towing the truck back on to the roadway, the youth being very profuse in his thanks. The motorist asked the youth where he was going and was informed that Taihape- was his desti nation. In reply to a question as to his licence the youth stated "that he had not got a licence but must get to Taihape." When the motorist discovered that the youth was under 14 years ot age he became suspicious and, after locking his ear, took the youth to the home where the first egcapee had gone for assistance. A rlng was put through to the Marton police. lu the meautime, the youths bolted for the. scrub and were later located by a shephei;dess and her dog, who were. going round the sheep. The youths were handed over to Constables Ward and Puddle. During their travels the youths had purchased a gallon of: petrol. . Weraroa, was inf'ormed apd two oifieers from the training farm cam.e to Marton, collected the two. eacapees- anddrove the truck back to Levin,
