Gaol for Opening Letters
Charged that he opened letters addressed to different persons and firms, Hector Donald Connolly, aged 36, an employee of the Post and Telegraph" Department, was sentenced to two months' imprisonment by Mr. L. G. Sinclair, S.M.,' in the Auckland Court. The Magistrate said that it was not a case of sudden temptation or an isolated offence for accused had opened a number of letters. His conduct tendered to destroy public confidence in the Postal Department. The oifences must be regarded as somewhat serious,
