School Children and Hero

Fourteen hundred primary school children assembled at Nelson city theatre and gave Squadron-Leader Trent, V.C., a rousing welcome. Tributes to the Victoria Cross winner were paid by Mr. A. W. Alloo, headmaster of the Auckland Point School, who presided, and Hon. Mclntyre, chairman of the Education Board, who said the district was proud to claiin SquadronLeader Trent, who had received his primary education at Takaka District High School. On behalf of the children, an inscribed silver teapot was presented to SquadronLeader and Mrs. Trent and an inscribed serviette ring to their daughter, Christine.
