AIRMEN WANT 40-IIOER WEEK

AUCKLAND, Sept. 16. As the means o.t' demanding a 40-hour week, between 700 and SOO niembers oi the lnterim Air Uorce at Whenuapai are expected to take part in a sit-down strike 011 the station at 7.45 tomorrow morning. This decision arose out of a meeting of about 300 airmen held at the station tonight. Simultaneous demoustrations hava bpen planned at Hobsonville and Meehanics Bay air establi.sluneiits whieh were represented at the meeting. The proposed strike was stated to D.e thesequelto the publieation today of a routiue order advising personnel tligt they wili be required to work on Saturday mornings. This is interpreted by the men to mean that they wili be required to work an extra four hours m order to inake up for time lost domg inilitafy drill eaeh morning during the week and taking part in compulsory sport on Wednesday. When the station warrant officer at Whenuapai calls the usual parade tomorrow morning, to march them off to ivork, the men instead of falling m, inteiid to sit down in front of the airuen's mess.
