TWO MILLION GALLON SAVING FOR EMERGENCY

WELLINGTON, Bept. 15. On enquiry bemg made today, the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Hou. D. G. Bullivan, said that up to the present tiine, the new system of overall petrol rationing by the oil companies, eurrent since June 1, had worked very well. No com'plaints of any kiud had been received by the Oil Fuel Controller. • "The monthly- quota made available by the Oil FueL. Controller to ihe oil companies, had, been ample to ineel all necds a»d in fact we have not in any of ihe 3 months, used the full amount available,7' said the (Minister. "The amount actually saved on the allocatiou under the new system, has now reaehed a total of 2,000,0(J(J gallons. This is being held as a reserve to meet possible heavier deinands during the next few months. "Reeently the United lvingdom authorities made available some increased allowances to British consumers. I anticipute that corresponding iucreases will be available here aud theSe extra supplies, togelher with the accumulatod savings, should be ample to meet ihe incroased summer demaiuh ' ' ilr. Bullivan said he would like to record his appr.et-iation of the wiiling eo'operatiou he had received from all concernod — oil eoinpanios, resellers and purticularly the motorists themselves. It was pleasing to kuow that uot a single complaint had been received by the Oil Fuel Controller during the 3 months the new system had been in operatiou.
