WOMEN'S INSTITUTES

TE HORO'S MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Te Horo Women's Insiicuie, held recentiy, was well attended and presided over by Mrs. Grant, who welcomed all, especially the children, who, taking advantage of the school holidays, had come to entertain parents and friends. An invitation which it is hoped many will accept was received from Manakau W.I. to attend their birthday party on September 19. Following routine business the sociai hour was enjoyed by all in listening to items given by the foliowing children: — Pianoiorte duet and solos, Dorothy Jenkins and Allison Lowe; recitations, Shirley Johnson, Levin; and solos, Maire McDonald and Donald Ciark. Competition winners were : — Flower: Mrs. Walker 1, Mrs., Brown 2. Bowl: Mrs. Lumsden 1, Mrs. Walker 2. Vase: Mrs. Walker 1, Mrs. Grant 2. The usual dainty afternoon tea was served and the meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
