SHANNON TENNIS CLUB

COMMITTEE MEETING HELD A committee meeting of the Shannon Tennis Club was held in the Bank of New Zealand Chambers on Wednesday evening. Mr. F. Thurston presided and others present were Mrs. Creigh (vicepresident), Mrs. C. Wishart (secretary ) , Mrs. Rassmusson, Miss N. Moynihan, Messrs. K. Thomson and K. Batt. Apologies for absence were reeeived from Mr. and Mrs. D. Higgie. Following a discussion on what repairs would be necessary to bring the courts and surroundings back to pre-war condition, it was decided that the committee inspect the courts next Sunday and bring forward a full report on what work would be necessary to nave some

of the courts put in playing order. It was agreed that following the inspection a special general meeting should be called of all niembers and intending members, and the committee's report placed before them. Matters could also be discussed as to working bees, and ways . and means of raising funds to carry out the work. Mr. Thurston stated that there were a number of people interested in the welfare of the club, and he hoped that there would be a good gathering at the public meeting. Given the support of the public there is 110 reason why the local tennis club cannot be brought back to its pre-war standard.
