V WELLINGTON, biept. 11. j An aunouncemeiit that as it may be j many yoars before peaee treaties are ! made with Germa-uy and Japan, the I Government is eonsidering tlie possibil- ! ity of proclaiming a date terminating! tlie state of war with the two countries, was made by Mr. Fraser in the llouse of Representatives today, in a written reply to a questiou. Replying to Mr. J. T. Watts (Riccarton), Mr. Fraser said whether it would be practicable to proceed as suggested without waiting for the eonclusion of the peaee treaties, would depend upoiL tlie disappearance of those eomlitions of emergency which are inevitably as- | soeiated with hostilities and the post- | hostilities period, and upon tlie issue ot j discussions with other govennnents. | There were emergency regulatious governing the position of parties to | leases or tenancy agreements, entered | in to for the duratiou of the war or a similarlv defined period, and these regulations authorise the GovernorGeneral in Council to proclaim a date as being the date of the end of the war for tlie purposes of such leases or agreements. "Consideration is being given to the issue of an Order iu Council iixing sucn a date and it is expeeted an announcement will be made soon, " said Mr. Fniser. ,
