NEW PLYAIOUTH, Sept. 11. A live-barrelled muzzle loadiug revolver of ancient vintage, which was stated to liave been loaded in some cliambers for perliaps 5U to 75 years, was an important exhibit in tho Coroner's Court in New Plymouth today when ari inquest was lield into the death of Ernest Gerald Bcnyon Adaiua, aged 15, who was found shot at his liome in New Plymouth 011 Julv 25. The fact that the weapon had been loaded for many years was proved_ by the Police Departnient arms expert's examination at Wellington and tlie Coroner, Alr. W. 11. Woodward, made the comment that but for the very tho rough investigation iuto the eircumstances by Seuior Detective E. C. Jarrold, New Plymouth, and the police arms • ofticer at Wellington, Benior Hergeant G. C. Kellv, suspicion miglit have remained th.it the bov had coniinitted suicide. Tlie evidence of a classmate had been that Adams was a quiet, studious boy and was coneenied that his mother and sisters had left liome to live in the Hcmtli IsJand. Tlie Coroner found that death had resulted from tlie accidental explosion of the weapon and the boy was probably iinaware that it was loaded.
