Personal Miss Ross, of Oriental Bay, is at present on holiday in Otaki. Mrs. Gloyne and her children, of Waipukurau, are holiday making in Otaki. ' Mr. Byron Brown is at present among the Wellington visitors to Otaki. Mr. K. Hager, who has been on a holiday visit to the South. Island, has returned to Otaki. Mrs.. Dick, of Day's Bay; Wellington, and her children are at present spending a holiday with her mother, Mrs. Boyd, of Bell Street. Inspector Peters, who has been stationed at Otaki for some months, has left to take up duties at Kaikohe. Inspector Davis, of Auckland, fills the vacancy at Otaki. The funeral of the late Mr. "Ted" McKenzie was one of the largest held in the Wairarapa for some uime, while among those present were a number of old footbailers from this coast. Many beautiful floral tributes were placed on the casket. A letter from the Director of j Education to Mrs. I. V. Buchanan, jdaughter of Mr. L. G. He was always prominent in football and other sporting circles, and for "some time played for the Masterton Red Stars, later becoming a Wairarapa representative player. He was active in the Hunting Club in Carterton and was a leading rider at Wairarapa shows, where he gained many awards. Old Age Pensions Old age pensions will be paid out at the Otaki Post Office on the 19th and others on the 23rd., not on the 21st as previcusly stated. Sheep Worrying Sheep worrying by dogs has been prevalent in the district of recent date, and some farmers have suffered heavily. Water Shortage On account of the dry weather at Te Horo several householders are short of water, and in consequence cartage has had to be resorted to. Wandering Stock A resident in the vicinity of Otaki Railway had no less than thirty head of stock in his garden recently, with the result that considerabie damage was done. New Business A new store will be opened at Tasman Beach on Friday, by Mr. and Mrs. Mason, who will stock confectionery, groceries, soft drinks, etc.
