REPERCUSSION IN LONDON

Reeeived Thursday, 9.15 a.m. LONDON, Sept. 11. The London Stock Exchange developed a better tone yesterday afternoon after an earlier weakness on the fresh Wall Street break, states a special correspondent of the Australian Associated Press. The financial community, nevertheless, seems at present inclined to seek the explanation for the New York "jitters" in not unreasonable doubts about Ameriean industry's prospects. It is true that Ameriean production and employment continue at a high level, and also there is an apparent assurance of a sellers' market for some time. On the other hand, recurring labour troubles, friction in the working of production and price controls are seen as grave threats. Responsible opinion increasingly fears that the Wall Street shakeout may herald at least a moderate business recession. As a result, the city is less confident than. lastweek about- the early economic outlook.
