MR. FRASER EXPLAINS
WELI A X G TOX, Sept. 11. "The announcement wliieh has been pnblished concerning the date of the opening meeting of the (iovernment's election campaign, is not official," said the Prime Alinister in a statement toniglit. "It was apjiarentlv based on the date on whieh tlie Auckland Town Hall would be available, " he added. " llowever, it may tuni out to be unavoidably correct. It has been decided to open the Labour Party's campaign in Auckland and I am inf'ormed that Oetober .15 is the only date available for the meeting within a suitable range. A further efl'ort is to be made to engage tlie Town Hall for tlie following week whieh, in my opinion, would be preferable, making the campaign ilve weeks instead of six. Until this matter of the date of the opening meeting is settled, tlie diseussion whieh was arranged witli the Leader of the Opposition in eonneetion with the election campaign, witli particular reference to tlie work of the House, is not possible."
