FARM HAND RESCUED FROM INFURIATED BULL

AUCKLAND, Mept. 10. When he was gored by an infuriated aersey bull on a farm at' Hobsonville this morning, Mr. Hilary Cecil Inglis, aged 33, married, farm hand, suflered a fracture of the spine. He was probably saved from death by two brothers who drove up in a motor ear and xescued .him from the animal after it had him at its mercy on the ground. Mr. Inglis was trying to Shift the bull which had got out of its paddoek, wlien it turned and attacked liim causing him to fall to the ground. His predicament was seen by Messrs H.* ~W. and F. J. Verrall, two building eontractors, who were driving through the property in a motor car on their way to demolish some Army liuts used during the war by an anti-aircraft battery. As.soon as the car reached the scene Mr. F. J. Verrall jumped out armecl with the eranlt handle with wHieh he struck the bull over the head. Mr, Inglis was able to get to his feet and elimb int'o the back of the car fo'i safety. Turiling its attentions on Mr, Verrall the animal made to eharge at liim but lle dodged and it crashed intf the car without eausing any damage, ' The conditioil of Mr*. Inglis- is- fairly serious. _
