"There "are 384,000 German prisoners of war, engaged mostly in farm work, in Britain/' said Mr. F. R. Picot, Commissioner of Supply, on his return from the United Kingdom this week. He added that almost one-quarter of the farm labour in the United Kingdom was drawn from prisoners of war camps, and, although there were mixed feelings there as to the advisability of maihtaining these prisoners in England, it was clear that they would be used until the harvest was over. Prisoners with experience in industry and certain technical trades would undoubtedly be kept longer.
