Ilowevcr, the position of ex-service-niou who wero engaged in nursing duties in nientiU hospitals -before becoiuing mombers of the armcd fqrces, was brought uiuler notice, aud it was docidod by the Nurses and .Midwives ' Board that it was only fair that they should bo afforded similar opportunity to qualifv for registration, sinee they had been imable, on aecount of their war service, to sit the examination or complete the eourse of training. It was thus decided that discretionary powev should be granted to the board to rqgister for a liiuited period those e.x-service-meii who pass tlie senior exaiuinatiou for mental nurses before the end of 1947, and the new regulations make provision aeeordingly.
