He was convicted and fined £3, with 10s costs. A charge of driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention was preferred against James William Lynch. Sergeant Grainger stated that the defendant was a returned soldier, suffering the disability of a lost leg. At 12.55 p.m. on July 31, Lynch was driving his car out of Oxford Street into Bath Street, with a .visibility of about 95 feet. He collided with two small children who were riding tricycles across the intersection. Fortunately no serious injury was inflicted on either of the children. In convicting Lynch, His Worship said that he would take into consideration the possibility that he had' not as yet adjusted himseif completely to the. disability arising from the loss of the limb. A lint of 10s, with 10s costs, was imposed. Failure to provide warr^nts of fitness while in charge of motor vehicles resulted iii convictions being entered against Francis William Picard and Kenneth John Rae, each being fined 15s, with costs of 15s and 12s respectively. Lindsay Douglas, for driving a motor lorry, at an excessive speed paid a penalty of £2 10s, with 10s costs. The penalty imp'osed on ^eith Stewart Dawson on a charge of

failing to dip the headlights of his car was £1, with 10s costs. Civil Cases Judgment by default was entered in the following cases: — Devine and Watkins v. A. Armstrong, £2 8s lQd, court costs 9s, solicitor's fee 15s 6d; same v. T. Murray £5 10s 2d, court costs £1 4s 6d, translation fee 5s, solicitor's fee 15s 6d; same v." Whaka Heperi £5 5s lld, court costs 19s, translation fee 5s, solicitor's fee 15s 6d. Judgment Summonses Dan Brown was ordered to pay l. :S. Carmichael (Mr. J. Todd) the sum of £2 17s 5d forthwith, ia default three days' imprisonment. Whaka Pau was ordered to pay Devine and Watkins (Mr. J. Todd) the sum of £6 17s 9d and sbliciter'B fee 15s 6d forthwith, in default eight days' imprisonment. James O'Donnell was ordered to jpay William Dane (Mr. J. Todd) !the sum of £20 12s 6d forthwith, in : default 21 days' imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended on payment of £1 monthly.
