"WELLINGTON, Sept. 5. Before the House of B?epreseritatives adjourned tonig'ht, Mr. Holland asked the Minister of Finance whether, in view of the extraordinarily strong ca'se the Opposition had put up in recent weeks for some fnrther reli'ef in taxation — the case which had received a good deal of silent support from the Government benches — the Minister might ehoose this oecasion — the introcliTC'tioh -of the Land and Income Tax (annuai) Bill — to announee some fnrther taxation rednctions. Mr. Nash remarked "that after eonsultation with his colleasgnes, he might he able to announee some fnrther rednctions £;this year or next year or the year after." He explained that the Bill ineTely made provision for the ass'essing of land and income tax in. aecordance with the amended -r-afes nf taxation annonnced in the Budget.
